Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there other costs I can expect during the season?

A: Travel costs to tournaments are up to each family to determine what is best for them. Some families may choose to drive the night before to a tournament that may be a couple hours away and incur a hotel cost. Some families prefer to get up early and drive the morning of the tournament. Spandex, shoes, socks and black knee pads are not part of our uniform package so these are an additional cost a family incurs. We also offer optional team and individual pictures later in the season.

Q: What is included in my daughter’s uniform package?

A: We’re pleased to provide Asics uniforms again this year. The uniform package will consist of a backpack, 2 Jerseys (1 short-sleeve 1 long-sleeve), 1 warm up jacket, and 1 pair of matching warm up pants. Jerseys will have your daughter’s number on them. Her back pack and warm up jacket will have the Extreme logo along with her name and jersey number.

Q: How much traveling does a team do?

A: The major tournaments are typically played in Sacramento, San Mateo, San Jose, or Reno. The League tournaments are much more challenging to predict. The NCVA Region runs from Bakersfield to Eureka. League tournaments can be anywhere within this area. We don’t typically know more than 2 – 5 days in advance where each team will play, so families need to be flexible and prepared to travel! It is important to note our 16-1s team will play two tournaments in Reno; all other Power teams will only play in Reno once.

Q: How is food handled at tournaments?

A: Each team will do group tailgating at tournaments. It is important your daughter has appropriate food available on tournament days. Each team will have a team parent who will coordinate food assignments for all families at each tournament. A family may, for example, be assigned to bring bagels or muffins for a tournament. They should bring enough to share with all players and their families as well. Tailgate items will include bagels/muffins, main dishes, salads, snacks, drinks, and paper products. Items rotate each tournament so one family is not always bringing main dish, for example. Each team will also need families who can bring a pop-up shade and 1 – 2 folding tables.

Q: What time commitments are required to play Club Volleyball?

A: Besides tournaments, teams can expect to practice 2 – 3 times each week, depending on tournament schedules. We practice on Sundays unless a team has a tournament, then we also practice 1 – 2 nights during the week. We also will do conditioning evenings as a Club, Team Bonding activities both as teams and as a Club. It is expected your daughter will be fully committed to her team and be at all practices, tournaments, conditioning sessions, and team bonding activities unless she is ill or has a family emergency. Team Parents will also coordinate car-pooling to practices, conditioning, and team bonding activities.

Q: How and when will I know if my daughter makes a team?

A: Many girls will be asked by our Coaches today if they’re interested in playing for Vacaville Extreme Volleyball Club. This means the Coach would like to offer them a position on their team. But building teams is not that simple and must start with the oldest age group. A player can play up to a higher age group, but they cannot play down, so if older players decline a position with VEVC, a Coach will need to offer a spot to another player of the same age group or one from a younger age group. Because of this, it can take several days before we know for certain we have all spots filled on all teams.

Q: If my daughter is offered a spot on a team, when must I decide?

A: We would appreciate a verbal commitment within 24 hours of a spot being verbally offered. Our formal commitment signing meetings will take place on Tuesday, November 11th.

Q: What can I expect at the Commitment Signing meeting?

A: Several things will take place at this meeting. Each Team meets as a group, along with the Coaches and VEVC Board of Directors. We’ll talk to players and parents about VEVC, your daughter’s coach will talk a little about herself and her expectations for players, then we have several tasks to complete. You’ll be asked to sign a contract to play for the season and make your first Club Dues payment; your daughter will be fitted for her uniform and select her jersey number; you’ll have an opportunity to order VEVC Spirit Wear for everyone in the family; and you’ll receive a schedule of tournaments for the season. We’ll also talk about the role of Team Parent and seek a volunteer for each team. Finally, we’ll gather team family contact information so we can share a family roster with the entire team to make communicating during the season easier.

Q: Where will the Commitment Signing meeting take place?

A: The meeting will be in the conference center of the Hampton Inn & Suites, 800 Mason Street, Vacaville, 95688. Specific times will be announced when your daughter is offered a position on a team.

Q: What must I bring to the Commitment Signing meeting?

A: You’ll need a check payable to Vacaville Extreme, Inc. for your first Club Dues payment. You’ll also need an additional blank check if you’d like to order Spirit Wear. Your daughter will be fitted for her uniform. That process will be much simpler if she’s wearing a tank top and spandex under her clothes so she can try on her jersey and warm ups over these clothes.
